Job Overview
PM Group's Outsourced Technical Services (OTS) division is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a client's expanding engineering team in Kilkenny, Ireland. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems from initial concept through to final commissioning across a variety of industrial and infrastructure projects. While expertise in water or wastewater infrastructure is especially valued, candidates with design experience in utilities, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, food and beverage, energy, or other industrial sectors are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Create electrical designs for both industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Generate comprehensive electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, cable schedules, load calculations, and equipment specifications.
- Design low-voltage (LV) power distribution networks, motor control centers (MCCs), control panels, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Prepare technical specifications, tender documentation, and packages for construction.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams during all phases of projects.
- Engage in design reviews and perform technical assessments.
- Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry codes, regulations, and client demands.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to guarantee project success.
- Offer technical assistance throughout procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover stages.
- Conduct site inspections and surveys as necessary.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- At least three years’ proven experience in electrical design within industrial, infrastructure, utilities, or manufacturing settings.
- In-depth understanding of low-voltage electrical distribution systems and industrial electrical installations.
- Competency with AutoCAD and electrical design software tools.
- Familiarity with applicable electrical regulations and standards.
- Strong communication abilities paired with effective problem-solving skills.
- Capability to collaborate successfully within interdisciplinary teams.
- Possession of a valid full driving license.
