Electrical BIM/Drafting Technician

Job Overview

Located in Geelong, Victoria, this position offers the opportunity to assist electrical and multidisciplinary engineering teams by creating precise drafting and BIM models. Projects span diverse sectors such as health, education, commercial, civic, urban, and recreational developments.

Primary Duties

• Develop detailed drawings, plans, and models related to electrical building services and installations.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers and Designers or Technologists to aid in the design and layout of electrical systems within buildings.
• Ensure electrical drawings and BIM models are carefully coordinated with architectural and other disciplinary models.
• Conduct site inspections of electrical installations and offer design feedback to ensure compliance with relevant specifications and regulations.
• Support the project delivery process by updating designs, providing mark-ups, and managing document coordination.
• Contribute to national drafting and BIM standards, including templates and workflows, under senior technical leadership.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team efforts to achieve coordinated and clash-free deliverables.
• Promote ongoing enhancement and innovation in drafting and BIM modeling practices.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in electrical, building services, or multidisciplinary drafting roles.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit; MEP modeling skills are highly valued.

• Experience familiar with the Victorian or wider Australian building services markets.

• Knowledge of electrical building services systems and design.
• Experience using Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or comparable platforms.
• Certification or tertiary qualifications in drafting, design, or building services disciplines.
