About the Role

Join JPMorgan Chase as a Director of Software Engineering within the Consumer and Community Banking division. You will spearhead a technical area, influencing multiple teams and projects across departments by leveraging your comprehensive expertise in software engineering, product management, and technical processes. This role emphasizes driving innovation, delivering solutions, and overseeing initiatives such as Solution Engineering, Technology lifecycle management, timely delivery, problem management, resilience, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with product and engineering teams to build resilient cloud-based applications that enhance customer experiences.
• Lead technology and process deployments to fulfill strategic technology goals.
• Make strategic decisions affecting resource allocation, budgeting, operations, and execution standards.
• Ensure governance over coding standards, control requirements, and success metrics including ownership costs, maintainability, and portfolio efficiency.
• Define direction and oversee automation utilizing agentic AI and SDLC/TLM tools to enhance speed, quality, and operational results, while implementing controls for validation, security, reliability, and reuse.
• Leverage tools across the Software Development Life Cycle, including enterprise-approved AI-assisted development capabilities, to maximize automation benefits and scale capacity improvement initiatives.
• Develop scalable technical solutions applicable across various business domains.
• Influence leadership and senior stakeholders throughout business, product, and technology sectors.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Formal education or certification in software engineering with over 10 years of applied experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles managing technical talent and solving complex domain-specific challenges.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional technology teams.
• Hands-on experience delivering full-stack systems end-to-end (design through operations).
• Proficient in Java and Python in production settings.
• Experienced in designing and deploying AWS-based solutions, utilizing cloud-native concepts such as containers, IaC, and observability.
• Skilled in building scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of event-driven systems, including messaging, streaming, and asynchronous integrations.
• Practical knowledge implementing agentic workflows like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), integrating agents and tools effectively.
• Leadership in adopting agentic AI-driven engineering practices by employing approved enterprise tools; establishing operational standards including human validation, quality control, and secure processing.
• Comprehensive understanding of responsible AI governance in engineering, focusing on data sensitivity, security, resiliency, and influencing organizational adoption of safe scaling methods.
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and retaining technical talent while managing senior relationships across business, product, and technology.
