Software Solution Architect - AI & Startup Technology

About the Role

A leading organization is seeking an accomplished Software Solution Architect specializing in AI and startup technologies. This role primarily functions within a Group Startup Program that focuses on evaluating, investing in, and enabling high-growth tech startups.

Distinct from traditional solution architect roles, this position merges expertise in software architecture, AI, startup evaluation, technical due diligence, productization, and strategic tech integration. The architect will collaborate closely with startup leaders, engineering teams, senior leadership, and ecosystem partners to assess emerging technologies.

The role involves deep technical analysis to determine the readiness, scalability, maturity, and productization potential of startup innovations, identifying areas where the parent organization's technology can add significant value. Additionally, the architect guides integration of selected technologies and offers architectural leadership when startups lack senior technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive technical evaluations of startup technologies under consideration within the program.
• Understand startup products, software architecture, AI capabilities, engineering methodologies, and technical roadmaps.
• Distinguish between conceptual stages, prototypes, MVPs, and fully production-ready software.
• Assess factors such as scalability, maintainability, extensibility, reliability, enterprise-readiness, and technical debt.
• Analyze software infrastructure, APIs, integrations, data architectures, AI/ML elements, security, and deployment models.
• Identify architectural challenges, risks, dependencies, and feasibility of meeting future technology goals.
• Translate technical assessments into actionable insights for leadership and stakeholders.
• Evaluate AI-driven solutions including architectures involving LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, embeddings, vector search, knowledge systems, and modern AI pipelines.
• Ensure AI implementations align with genuine product and business value rather than superficial additions.
• Guide in architecting and integrating AI capabilities into scalable software platforms.
• Assess startup readiness for evolving prototype or MVP to a commercial-grade, enterprise-ready software product.
• Advise on architectural improvements for multi-tenancy, security, observability, availability, and maintainability to support scalable deployment.
• Foster technical integration opportunities between the organization's portfolio and startup platforms, designing solution architectures and defining interfaces and dependencies.
• Lead technical collaboration from concept through production deployment for integration projects.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor providing architectural leadership to startups without senior technology leadership, helping navigate complex tech decisions and strategy.
• Engage with founders, CTOs, executives, and product stakeholders to align technology strategy with business objectives.

Requirements

• Extensive professional background in software engineering, solution architecture, product or enterprise architecture.
• Strong hands-on technical expertise enabling deep comprehension of complex software beyond high-level diagrams.
• Established experience architecting enterprise-grade software products and platforms.
• Solid proficiency in artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, and modern AI system architectures.
• Practical track record integrating AI functionalities into live software products.
• Deep understanding of APIs, microservices architectures, distributed systems, cloud technologies, data platforms, and modern software engineering best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead software products from ideation/MVP stages through successful productization and deployment.
• Experience assessing scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and managing technical debt in complex platforms.
• Ability to quickly analyze unfamiliar technology stacks and complex product architectures.
• Proven engagement with clients, startup leadership, executives, and senior product stakeholders.
• Capacity to translate business and product goals into scalable and robust technical solutions.
