Role Summary
The Director of Project Controls will lead and transform project controls for a portfolio of distinguished projects within the Data Centre division. Reporting to the PMC Director, this senior leadership position offers an opportunity to shape strategic direction, governance, and performance related to planning, cost management, risk, procurement, and overall project execution. The role emphasizes partnering with senior stakeholders for ensuring efficient project delivery from development to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a top-tier project controls strategy aligned with organizational and regional objectives.
- Set governance frameworks, standards, processes, and best practices to ensure uniformity and optimized performance across projects.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to aid strategic decisions and delivery planning.
- Lead, nurture, and expand a highly capable, globally dispersed team.
- Encourage collaboration among cross-functional teams to unify project controls approaches.
- Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and foster a positive organizational culture.
- Manage oversight of planning, scheduling, cost controls, procurement, and contract management.
- Ensure comprehensive project execution and resource allocation plans.
- Conduct expert reviews to highlight risks and identify optimization potentials.
- Implement progress measurement systems featuring regional benchmarking to track productivity, performance, and milestones.
- Drive initiatives that leverage data to optimize costs and benchmarking across regions.
- Standardize procedures across different projects and locations.
- Establish data-driven frameworks to track cost, schedule adherence, and productivity metrics.
- Spearhead risk management, including mitigation plans and reporting for the project portfolio.
- Provide transparent, accurate reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Maintain cost intelligence efforts and pursue ongoing cost reduction.
- Foster an organizational culture centered on accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and enforce quality assurance and quality control standards throughout all project phases.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, contractual, and internal standards.
- Lead audit processes and promote continual enhancement of practices.
- Advocate for digital innovation through automation, analytics, and real-time data in project controls.
- Enhance transparency and decision-making capabilities using advanced reporting tools.
- Collaborate extensively with project, construction, commercial teams, and procurement functions.
- Support contractor selection and procurement strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and relevant industry stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related areas.
- Substantial experience in project controls, program management, or handling major capital projects.
- Demonstrated leadership within complex construction projects such as data centres, pharmaceutical, infrastructure, or mission-critical facilities.
- Proficient in planning, cost control, risk oversight, and reporting tools.
- Deep knowledge of regional construction markets and applicable regulations.
- Proven ability to lead transformation, standardization, and elevate performance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Competent in governance, process enhancements, digital change, and risk-based decision-making.
