Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Director of Project Controls to provide strategic leadership and drive transformation in our project controls function within the Data Centre division. Reporting to the PMC Director, this role offers the chance to lead and expand the division, delivering top-tier client outcomes throughout Europe. The position focuses on establishing governance, enhancing performance in planning, cost management, risk, procurement, and overall project delivery, ensuring seamless execution from development to commissioning and handover. The role is flexible in location and may be based in any PM Group global office.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a top-tier project controls strategy that aligns with regional and organizational objectives.
  • Implement governance mechanisms, standards, and best practices to ensure uniformity and high performance across all projects.
  • Collaborate with executive leaders to aid strategic choices and delivery roadmaps.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing, international project controls team.
  • Promote collaboration across departments to unify project controls approaches.
  • Advocate diversity, equity, inclusion, and foster a positive team culture.
  • Supervise planning, scheduling, cost management, procurement, and contract oversight.
  • Ensure effective project execution strategies and resource allocation across programs.
  • Provide expert evaluation and oversight to identify risks and areas for optimization.
  • Establish progress measurement frameworks benchmarked regionally for tracking productivity, milestones, and performance.
  • Lead data-informed cost optimization and regional cost benchmarking efforts.
  • Drive standardization efforts across multiple projects and geographies.
  • Execute data-centric frameworks to monitor cost, schedule, and productivity metrics.
  • Manage risk across the project portfolio, including mitigation and reporting plans.
  • Deliver accurate, timely reports to executive stakeholders.
  • Maintain cost intelligence and foster continuous cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure accountability, high performance, and ongoing enhancement within delivery functions.
  • Set and uphold quality assurance and quality control standards throughout all delivery phases.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance obligations.
  • Lead audits and support ongoing process improvements.
  • Promote adoption of digital tools, automation, and analytics to enhance project control processes.
  • Improve reporting transparency and enable real-time decision-making through advanced data use.
  • Enhance operational efficiency and process refinement within the project controls function.
  • Work closely with project, construction, and commercial teams to optimize coordination.
  • Support procurement strategies, contractor selection, and supply chain engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • Extensive background in project controls, program management, or managing major capital projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership in complex construction projects such as data centers, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, or mission-critical environments.
  • Proficient knowledge of planning, cost control, risk management, and reporting systems.
  • Strong insight into regional construction markets and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven success in driving standardization, transformation, and performance improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Deep understanding of governance, process improvements, digital transformation, and risk-based decision-making.
