Role Summary

The Director, Human Resources (Canada), will spearhead strategic leadership of the company's HR and payroll divisions across the nation. Reporting to the President, the role involves managing talent acquisition, succession planning, employee development, compensation and benefits, payroll functions, employee relations, compliance, and HR systems. This position is key in advising senior leadership and cultivating a high-performing HR and payroll team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee HR and payroll operations throughout Canada.
  • Formulate and implement HR strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Advise senior management on workforce planning and organizational effectiveness.
  • Direct initiatives in talent acquisition, employee growth, succession planning, and retention.
  • Manage payroll processes, benefits administration, and HRIS platforms.
  • Ensure adherence to employment laws, internal policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead investigations and resolve complex employee relations cases.
  • Provide HR analytics, reports, and workforce metrics to leadership.
  • Promote an inclusive, cooperative, and high-performance corporate culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of advancing leadership experience in Human Resources.
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications such as CHRP, CHRL, CPHR, or equivalents are preferred.
  • Comprehensive expertise in Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing payroll, benefits, employee relations, and HR information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with executive leadership.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and conflict management skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, organizational aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to lead and develop teams within a dynamic corporate setting.
