Help at Home is currently seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within their homes and local communities. Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized support to persons with developmental disabilities aimed at promoting independence, dignity, and community integration.
- Assist with everyday living activities including meal preparation, cleaning, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation.
- Encourage and facilitate involvement in social outings, shopping, and various community engagements.
- Aid clients in achieving their personal development goals and recognize their progress.
- Advocate for client choice, autonomy, and self-empowerment.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of care provided, client activities, and progress details.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues for continuous, high-quality support delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Successful completion of background checks and required training programs.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation with proof of insurance (primary or secondary).
- Ability to perform duties safely and respectfully in diverse home and community settings.
- Possession of compassion, reliability, and a strong motivation to positively impact individuals' lives.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism, including administration of Individual Activity Support Plans and Plans of Service and Supports.
- Familiarity with behavior support techniques such as redirection, visual cues, and modifying environments.
