About the Role
Help at Home is looking for compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals to provide in-home and community support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position offers a meaningful career opportunity to assist people in maintaining dignity and independence while earning competitive pay, ranging from $13 to $15 per hour, with weekly payment schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living tasks including personal care, cooking, cleaning, and transportation.
- Encourage and support participation in community and social activities like shopping and events.
- Help clients achieve personal milestones and celebrate their progress.
- Promote client choice, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, activities, and client progress.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent and quality care.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Successful completion of background check and required training.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance.
- Ability to provide safe and respectful care in clients’ homes and community settings.
- Strong compassion, reliability, and a commitment to positively impact others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.
- Familiarity with Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
- Knowledge of basic behavioral support techniques such as redirection, visual prompts, and environmental adjustments.
