About the Role
Join Help at Home as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide compassionate, individualized assistance to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. Our pay ranges from $13 to $15 per hour depending on the care provided, with weekly payment options.
Key Duties
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation.
- Encourage participation in community and social activities such as shopping and social events.
- Support clients in reaching personal goals and acknowledge their progress.
- Promote autonomy, choice, and self-advocacy among those you support.
- Maintain accurate records of care, activities, and client progress.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
Prerequisites and Eligibility
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass a background check and complete required training.
- Hold a valid driver's license and have dependable transportation with insurance proof (primary or secondary).
- Demonstrate the ability to work safely and respectfully in clients' homes and communities.
- Show compassion, reliability, and a genuine desire to positively impact others' lives.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) or autism.
- Knowledge of implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
- Familiarity with behavior-support techniques like redirection, visual prompting, and environmental adjustments.
