Role Overview
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will offer individualized assistance to people with developmental disabilities, supporting their daily living and community participation to enhance independence and quality of life. This role involves one-on-one care in clients' homes and community settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation.
- Encourage and facilitate involvement in social and community activities like shopping and events.
- Support clients in setting and attaining personal goals, recognizing and celebrating their progress.
- Promote autonomy, choice, and self-advocacy among clients.
- Maintain precise records documenting care provided, activities, and client progress.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure consistent and high-quality support services.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Pass a background check and complete all required training.
- Possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance (primary or secondary).
- Demonstrate ability to work safely and respectfully within clients' homes and communities.
- Exhibit compassion, dependability, and commitment to making a positive impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting individuals with I/DD and/or autism, including working with Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
- Knowledge of basic behavior-support techniques, such as redirection, visual prompts, and environmental modifications.
