About the Role

Help at Home is actively seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within their homes and communities. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with essential daily living activities including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene and grooming, and transportation needs.
  • Encourage and support participation in community and social engagements such as shopping and social gatherings.
  • Help clients work toward personal goals and recognize their achievements along the way.
  • Promote autonomy, informed choices, and self-advocacy for the people supported.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of care activities and progress made.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to ensure consistent and high-quality support services.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Successful completion of background checks and required training programs.
  • Having a valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and proof of insurance (primary or secondary).
  • Ability to provide respectful and safe care within clients' homes and community environments.
  • Demonstrate qualities of compassion, dependability, and a strong desire to positively impact others’ lives.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism, including familiarity with Individual Activity Support Plans and Plans of Service and Supports.
  • Knowledge of basic behavior support techniques such as redirection, visual cues, and environmental adjustments.
