About the Role

Help at Home is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide individualized assistance to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities within their homes and communities in Lexington, MS. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals focusing on daily living skills such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and transportation
  • Encourage participation in social and community events including shopping and outings
  • Assist in setting and achieving personal milestones and celebrating successes
  • Promote independence, self-advocacy, and informed choice
  • Document care activities and progress accurately
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality support

Candidate Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent credential
  • Successful completion of background checks and required training programs
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and proof of insurance (primary or secondary)
  • Ability to work safely and respectfully in clients' homes and wider community settings
  • Compassionate, dependable attitude with a genuine desire to make a positive difference

Preferred Experience

  • Prior work supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism
  • Experience implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS)
  • Familiarity with behavior-support techniques such as redirection, visual prompting, and environmental adjustments
