About the Role
Help at Home is currently seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join their team in Jackson, MS. This role involves assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities, empowering them to live independently with dignity. Job Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities including meal preparation, housekeeping, personal grooming, hygiene, and transportation.
- Encourage and facilitate participation in social and community events such as shopping and recreational activities.
- Support individuals in achieving personal milestones and celebrate their progress.
- Promote choice, autonomy, and self-advocacy among clients.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of care provided, activities completed, and progress made.
- Effectively communicate with team members to ensure consistency and quality in client support.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent credential.
- Successful completion of background check and required training modules.
- Possession of a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance (primary or secondary).
- Ability to perform duties safely and respectfully within clients’ homes and communities.
- Empathy, dependability, and commitment to making a positive impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism, including implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
- Familiarity with basic behavior-support techniques such as redirection, visual prompts, and environmental adjustments.
