About the Role
Help at Home is actively seeking dependable and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Water Valley, MS. As a DSP, you will enable clients to live with dignity and independence by offering essential support in their homes and communities.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation.
- Encourage and facilitate participation in social and community events such as shopping and social outings.
- Support individuals in reaching their personal goals and recognize their progress along the way.
- Promote autonomy, informed choice, and self-advocacy among clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care, activities, and client progress.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure consistent and high-quality care.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of background checks and required training.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance (primary or secondary).
- Ability to work safely, respectfully, and compassionately within clients’ residences and communities.
- Demonstrated reliability, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism.
- Familiarity with implementing Individual Activity Support Plans (ASPs) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
- Knowledge and application of foundational behavior-support strategies such as redirection, visual prompting, and environmental modification.
