Role Summary

The Debug & Repair Technician - PCBA position is focused on identifying faults and restoring functionality in printed circuit board assemblies. This role requires expertise in diagnostic tools and repair techniques, working closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure product reliability and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, programmers, thermal cameras, and specialized debugging software to isolate component and circuit faults.
• Perform component replacement, soldering, desoldering, and rework activities while preserving PCB integrity using appropriate tools and methods.
• Interpret schematics, board layouts, bills of materials, test results, failure logs, and engineering guidelines to support repair procedures.
• Record comprehensive repair documentation including root cause analyses, components replaced, and verification outcomes to maintain traceability.
• Provide timely feedback on production line failures, identify defect trends, and escalate systemic issues to Engineering and Quality departments.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to address top defect causes, establishing reliable 'Good and Bad' golden samples for production.
• Engage with manufacturing test engineering to enhance failure detection capabilities and test robustness.
• Participate in root cause analysis efforts for repeated failures, executing corrective actions to reduce defects.
• Handle PCBs and components following ESD, moisture, and clean area protocols to preserve component integrity.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workstation with strict adherence to ESD and safety practices.
• Conduct functional validation of repaired assemblies before reintegration into production or shipping.
• Work collaboratively with operational and engineering personnel to disseminate failure insights and drive product reliability improvements.
• Adhere to all safety, ESD, chemical handling, and equipment operation procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in PCBA debugging, fault analysis, and repairs.

Skills and Competencies

• Hands-on experience with diagnostic and repair tools and techniques.
• Solid knowledge of electronic circuits, components, and PCBA design layouts.
• Proficiency in operating test and measurement instruments including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
• Strong soldering and rework capabilities at the component level.
• Ability to read and analyze schematics, engineering documentation, and test results.
• Understanding of ESD safety practices and adherence to IPC repair standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Capability to work independently under pressure while maintaining quality.
• Effective communication and thorough documentation skills.
