Job Overview
The Debt Collector role focuses on managing and recovering overdue customer payments to maintain a healthy accounts receivable portfolio while ensuring smooth cash flow. This position involves close collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and clients to address payment disputes, reduce outstanding balances, and uphold strong customer relationships.
Key Duties
- Regularly track customer accounts and monitor outstanding balances.
- Engage in collection efforts including calls, emails, face-to-face meetings, and official communications.
- Follow up persistently on due and overdue invoices to expedite payments.
- Document collection activities, payment promises, and schedule adherence accurately.
- Generate and disseminate customer statements and accounts aging reports.
- Reconcile accounts and probe into unexplained discrepancies.
- Work in close coordination with Sales to resolve payment and collection issues.
- Assist sales by providing up-to-date information regarding customer credit and payment status.
- Participate in meetings to discuss outstanding payments and establish payment plans.
- Escalate risky accounts or collection difficulties to management and sales teams timely.
- Aid in assessing customers' creditworthiness and recommending credit limits.
- Collaborate with customers and internal departments to resolve invoice disputes, delivery or pricing conflicts.
- Ensure the efficient tracking and resolution of disputed invoices to facilitate collection.
- Maintain professional and positive customer rapport while enforcing company credit policies.
- Prepare weekly and monthly collection performance and status reports.
- Monitor aging reports, overdue balances, and key collection metrics.
- Comply with internal financial policies and controls.
- Identify collection risks and propose mitigation strategies to management.
- Support audit processes related to accounts receivable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Between zero to three years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit control roles.
- Prior work with B2B client accounts and within sales-driven settings.
- Experience in sectors like construction, building materials, industrial manufacturing is preferred.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic languages.
