About the Role

A prominent global leader in the maritime shipping industry is broadening its commercial team and seeks proficient candidates for the Data Scientist role based in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete data science workflow by creating reproducible automated pipelines that manage raw data extraction, preprocessing, model training, performance evaluation, and deployment.
• Collaborate directly with business and operational teams to translate complex practical challenges into effective feature engineering, tailor-made model designs, and aligned performance metrics.
• Utilize comprehensive theoretical and applied knowledge spanning from classical statistical models to advanced Deep Neural Networks and Transformer architectures.
• Focus primarily on structured and tabular data to deliver highly accurate predictive solutions; familiarity with Computer Vision and multi-modal machine learning techniques is a beneficial plus.
• Employ cloud-native AutoML platforms to automate hyperparameter tuning, rapidly establish strong baseline models, and speed up model deployment timelines.
• Assist with any additional ad hoc assignments as required.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Have between 2 to 3 years of practical data science experience, specifically at a production environment level.
• Exhibit advanced skills in Python programming (particularly with PyTorch), SQL database querying, and containerization using Docker.
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of techniques ranging from basic regression and tree-based models like XGBoost to complex Deep Learning and Transformer methods.
• Have strong competency in modeling tabular data and forecasting time-series data, such as sales, scheduling, and demand; experience in Computer Vision is considered advantageous.
• Be experienced with cloud machine learning platforms, including hands-on use of AutoML frameworks to fast-track prototyping and establish baseline models.
