Overview

The Data Product Manager is responsible for shaping and managing the delivery strategy and roadmap of data-centric products and assets aimed at achieving specific business results and financial targets. This role requires close collaboration with various technical and functional stakeholders to set priorities, guide delivery teams, and ensure alignment with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of business objectives and operational processes to prioritize product initiatives and suggest enhancements.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and prioritize needs, translating these into clear product features and technical specifications.
  • Develop and implement product roadmaps focused on measurable business impacts, including resource planning and identifying necessary team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to guarantee timely, high-quality delivery of data products, addressing challenges and optimizing trade-offs.
  • Regularly report progress and outcomes to stakeholders, illustrating how data and AI solutions support business goals.
  • Promote best practices in AI/ML, data governance, data management, and user experience throughout product development.
  • Oversee product performance and reliability, working with Data Operations to handle any incidents such as outages and bugs.
  • Track key post-launch metrics including performance and user adoption, refining products to sustain significant business impact.
  • Lead change management efforts by facilitating training and support for end users integrating AI workflows and analytics into daily tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, financial, and IT standards, including architecture, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
  • Stay informed on emerging data and AI technologies, industry trends, and best practices, incorporating these insights to foster innovation and guide product strategy.

Competencies and Skills

  • Experienced with Agile project management methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence; adept at crafting clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, leveraging AI tools as appropriate.
  • Effective in backlog prioritization based on business value and technical dependencies; successful history of cross-functional collaboration involving engineering, analytics, and business teams.
  • Solid knowledge of data platforms, data modeling techniques, and analytics/reporting tools.
  • Understanding of AI system architecture, evaluation methodologies, and context engineering.
  • Exceptional ability to convert complex technical details into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders both written and verbally.
  • Strong commercial insight with proven ability to build consensus, influence senior stakeholders, and align diversified teams.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, organizational capabilities, and problem-solving skills, thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous settings.
  • Ownership-driven with a proactive approach and accountability for delivering quantifiable outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.
  • At least seven years’ experience in product or technical project management in domains involving AI, data analytics, data management, or business intelligence.
  • Competent in SQL along with knowledge of data processing, platform architecture, and modern data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Data Science projects and AI/ML workflows.
  • Relevant industry experience such as manufacturing or engineering is a plus.
  • Professional Product or Project Management certification (e.g., AIPMM, CSPO, PMP) is preferred.
