The app boasts high user ratings on both App Store (4.5 stars) and Google Play (4.3 stars) with over one million active global users and connects more than three million Dyson machines. Role Overview

Dyson seeks experienced Android developers to join its mobile app team. The ideal candidate communicates effectively, works collaboratively, self-assesses, and continuously strives for improvement while adhering to sound engineering principles. The focus is on producing robust, testable code and managing efficient delivery.

Technical Environment

  • The app follows a modular architecture using the MVVM pattern.
  • Primary codebase is Kotlin with progressive migration from Java components.
  • Jetpack libraries such as Navigation Component and WorkManager are utilized to simplify development and manage UI flows and background tasks.
  • Networking employs Retrofit, AWS IoT SDK, and Gson, with Dagger used for dependency injection.
  • Asynchronous programming is handled extensively using Kotlin coroutines to manage event streams.
  • Testing includes JUnit and Mockito for unit tests, Espresso and Kakao for UI tests, with continuous adoption of tools enhancing productivity and code quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with developers to build features and improve the Dyson Link app, emphasizing scalable, testable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams including test engineers, product owners, Scrum Masters, UX/UI designers, and cloud and embedded engineers.
  • Develop clean, maintainable code that aligns with modern Android development standards.
  • Participate actively in code review sessions, sprint planning ceremonies, and technical discussions.
  • Share expertise within the team to foster skill development and support peers.
  • Research and implement new technologies and tools to enhance engineering standards and product quality.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Interest in leveraging technology to enhance living environments.
  • Collaborative mindset aligned with Agile methodologies, thriving in empowered teams.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience delivering quality Android application code to real users.
  • Proficient with Kotlin and familiar with modern Android app architecture, specifically MVVM.
  • Comfortable with asynchronous programming techniques like Kotlin coroutines or equivalents.
  • Understanding and experience in using unit and UI testing frameworks.
  • Passionate about learning and sharing new technological knowledge.
  • Enjoys solving practical problems using well-crafted software solutions.
  • Skilled in utilizing AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) responsibly to boost productivity and maintain code quality.
