We are seeking a Principal Android Engineer to join our mobile app team in Singapore. This role demands a balance between writing robust, maintainable code and efficient delivery, with a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration. You will shape the architectural vision, mentor team members, and influence technology choices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and articulate the architectural strategy for the MyDyson Android app alongside global Principal Engineers.
• Collaborate with cloud, embedded software, and IT architects to design integrated system solutions involving the app.
• Support app teams on complex features, serving as the technical representative in business discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers to enhance skills and elevate team competencies.
• Identify technical risks within projects proactively and guide teams towards mitigation.
• Drive adoption of innovative technologies and tools to elevate code quality and engineering standards across teams.

Candidate Profile

• At least 10 years of experience developing and scaling global Android applications.
• Strong problem-solver with the ability to set technical directions and contribute hands-on to coding.
• Skilled in cross-disciplinary collaboration including mentoring, product alignment, and leadership communication.
• Deep expertise in modern app architectures (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) and advanced Android development using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Jetpack libraries.
• Committed to Agile methodologies for empowering teams to deliver scalable, high-quality software.
• Proven track record of contributing quality code to successful, widely-used mobile apps.
• Driven by solving meaningful real-world technology challenges.

Technical Environment - Android App

The MyDyson app features a modular design based on the MVVM pattern. Currently, over 75% of the codebase is Kotlin, with ongoing migration from Java. Key technologies include:

• Jetpack libraries such as Compose for UI, Room for persistence, and WorkManager for background tasks.
• Cloud communication frameworks like Retrofit for APIs, AWS IoT SDK for MQTT integration, and Gson for JSON processing.
• Dependency injection managed via Dagger.
• Asynchronous programming with RxJava, Kotlin coroutines, and Flow.
• Testing frameworks including JUnit, Robolectric, Mockito for unit tests, and Espresso with Kakao for UI automation.
