Overview
The Global Media Director at Dyson is entrusted with shaping and steering the worldwide media strategy and investment effectiveness agenda to maximize marketing impact and reinforce Dyson's brand globally. This role encompasses defining the vision, frameworks, metrics, and partnerships necessary to drive growth and optimize media investment across all markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Dyson's global media vision, strategy, and operating model aligned with business growth goals.
- Create a multi-year roadmap for advancing media capabilities, effectiveness, and transformations.
- Implement governance processes and set best practices to ensure media consistency globally.
- Align media priorities with brand initiatives, product launches, and commercial targets.
- Lead the creation of media investment principles balancing short-term returns and long-term brand growth.
- Manage global media investment frameworks to optimize spend allocation across products, channels, audiences, and markets.
- Drive media planning, optimization, and resource allocation strategies to maximize investment returns.
- Recommend media investments based on business outcomes, customer insights, and commercial returns.
- Set performance benchmarks and effectiveness goals for media campaigns across markets.
- Champion a test-and-learn approach and foster media innovation to boost capabilities and efficiency.
- Design and implement a global media measurement framework to consistently assess media effectiveness.
- Build the necessary data architecture, attribution methods, and reporting processes for sound media decision making.
- Analyze media contributions to commercial success through analytics, incrementality tests, and attribution methodologies.
- Collaborate with Data, Analytics, and Technology teams to enhance data quality, access, and executive reporting tools.
- Leverage customer insights and market trends to inform media investment choices.
- Continuously improve forecasting, accuracy of measurement, and transparency of performance data.
- Maintain strategic partnerships with global media agencies, technology vendors, and media platforms, including OMG.
- Lead commercial negotiations to maximize innovation, value, and service quality in agency partnerships.
- Ensure agencies meet performance standards and business objectives across markets.
- Serve as Dyson’s senior media leader externally, representing the company with senior agency and industry leaders.
- Guide senior stakeholders worldwide to align media priorities, investment frameworks, and growth opportunities.
- Provide strategic media investment advice to executive leadership based on data-driven insights.
- Build consensus around media KPIs, performance metrics, and investment principles.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and evidence-based decision making throughout the media organization.
- Drive adoption of global media standards while supporting local market needs.
- Translate complex media data and performance metrics into clear recommendations for executive decision-making.
- Lead initiatives to transform media planning, measurement, automation, audience management, and optimization.
- Monitor emerging technologies, platforms, and consumer behaviors to identify actionable business strategies.
- Promote innovation that strengthens customer engagement, enhances media effectiveness, and fosters business growth.
- Identify efficiency improvements through data, technology enhancements, and process simplification.
- Lead and develop a skilled global media team, fostering capability-building programs and best practice sharing.
- Encourage continuous learning, accountability, and commercial impact within the media function.
- Coach and cultivate future media leaders.
- Promote collaboration across markets and departments to elevate global media effectiveness.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in media, marketing, growth, analytics, or commercial leadership roles.
- Demonstrated leadership of global or regional media functions within multinational organizations.
- Proven track record in creating and executing media strategies that fuel brand growth and commercial success.
- Experience establishing media measurement capabilities and performance management frameworks.
- Strong background in leading organizational transformations and capability development.
- Expertise managing substantial agency partnerships and global media ecosystems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
