Job description
Role Overview
Changi Airport Group is advancing its digital transformation efforts within the People Team by building a scalable HR data infrastructure. The Data Engineer will collaborate closely with the People Data Architect to develop a centralized "People Data Middle Layer" within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, managing complex data pipelines, system logic, and enabling advanced people analytics and AI initiatives in a dynamic environment focused on talent management and workplace innovation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the People Data Middle Layer by leveraging Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse to integrate diverse HR data sources, executing complex data transformations using Microsoft Fabric's pipeline scheduling and notebooks with PySpark/Python.
- Implement diverse data integration methods for core HR systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, and Cornerstone OnDemand, including API connections through Azure API Management and alternate ingestion techniques like flat file exports and custom connectors.
- Address intricate domain-specific data modeling challenges by accurately mapping and reconciling HR system data, utilizing in-depth knowledge of HR business rules to bridge data gaps and build dependable semantic models.
- Work agilely within evolving project scopes, engaging HR stakeholders directly to define requirements, manage deliverables within tight deadlines, and iteratively refine data solutions.
- Establish data governance practices including automated data lineage, metadata management, and stringent quality assurance within Microsoft Fabric to uphold data integrity across HR platforms.
- Create semantic layers and data marts in Microsoft Fabric to facilitate self-service analytics empowering HR teams with access to clean, accessible datasets via Power BI.
- Ensure compliance with PDPA and internal security standards by enforcing strict access controls, encryption, and secure handling of confidential HR data such as NRIC, salary, and performance metrics, including safeguarding sensitive reports.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Between 4 to 8 years of professional data engineering experience focused on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric technologies.
- Strong expertise in Python (especially PySpark) and T-SQL for advanced data manipulation and semantic modeling.
- Proven capability to manage shifting technical needs, negotiating scope changes, and effectively communicating complex trade-offs with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience integrating diverse HR systems through various ingestion mechanisms including APIs, flat files, SFTP, and connectors.
- Strict commitment to maintaining data privacy when managing sensitive HR information.
Preferred Credentials
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600).
- Familiarity with HR and service APIs like SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, and Learning Management Systems such as Cornerstone OnDemand.
- Exposure to deploying large language models, AI agents, or Azure OpenAI services on curated enterprise datasets.
