About Cohesity and Role Overview
Cohesity, a global leader in AI-driven data security, supports over 13,600 enterprise clients, including the majority of Fortune 100 and Global 500 companies. Formed from the merger with Veritas' enterprise data protection arm and backed by major technology companies, Cohesity offers solutions securing data across on-premises, cloud, and edge environments. Recognized for innovation and product excellence, the company is headquartered in California with worldwide offices.
Within Cohesity, the Security portfolio transforms backup infrastructures into active cybersecurity defenses through offerings such as FortKnox, Threat Defense, Data Security Posture Management, Data Classification, and Identity Resilience. This portfolio approach presents complex architectural challenges that the Security Solution Architect role is designed to solve.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical success of security deals by owning discovery, design, demonstrations, and proof-of-value activities in partnership with Specialist Account Executives who handle commercial negotiations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in security architecture—specializing in ransomware recovery, immutable and air-gapped vaulting, identity resilience, and data security posture management—engaging credibly with CISOs, security VPs, and their architecture teams.
- Develop reference architectures and conduct technical workshops, proofs of concept, and pilot projects that validate security use cases in regulated sectors.
- Produce high-quality technical documents such as solution briefs, architecture diagrams, and tailored business cases for clients.
- Maintain in-depth awareness of client technology environments and collaborate with security partners to create joint solutions and co-sell opportunities.
- Provide insightful feedback to product teams based on field experiences and uphold rigorous deal qualification standards with clear proof-of-concept exit criteria.
Candidate Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in pre-sales engineering and security architecture roles.
- Proficient in designing or implementing ransomware recovery architectures, immutable or air-gapped backup solutions, and identity resilience systems, underpinned by a robust understanding of infrastructure including backup, recovery, storage, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Solid knowledge of Active Directory and Entra ID architectures, core security principles such as ransomware kill chains, immutability, air-gapping, zero trust, and scripting/API skills using Python and PowerShell to support demos and POCs.
- Strong communication capabilities, able to demystify complex topics for technical stakeholders and executives, and comfortable operating within a co-selling specialist team model.
- Proven ability to leverage artificial intelligence tools to boost productivity, optimize workflows, and enhance decision-making processes.
Preferred Additional Experience
- Experience as a specialist or overlay SE/SA at vendors specializing in data infrastructure, backup, or cybersecurity, ideally with expertise in ransomware recovery or identity resilience within regulated industries.
- Existing technical relationships or competitive knowledge in backup, cyber resilience, or data security markets relevant to the assigned geographic territory.
- Language skills aligned with the territory, such as Japanese, Mandarin, or Bahasa Indonesia, with business-level proficiency in English.
Performance Metrics
- Success measured by the technical win rate of supported deals and growth in influenced revenue and pipeline across the territory.
- Effectiveness and reusability of technical assets produced, along with their contribution to multi-phase business opportunities.
- Collaboration quality with the paired Specialist Account Executive and results achieved by partner co-selling efforts.
- Accuracy and quality of technical qualification and proof-of-concept forecasting.
Additional Information
This role is field-based within an assigned territory, requiring regular travel for customer engagements, workshops, and proof-of-concept activities, as well as periodic visits to the company headquarters and events in Santa Clara, CA.
In-Office Work Expectations: Employees within a reasonable commuting distance (approximately 45 minutes) are expected to work onsite 2-3 days per week on days of their choice.
