Position Overview

Step into the dynamic field of data engineering at Kyndryl as a Data Engineer. You will be instrumental in designing and maintaining robust data platforms that serve as essential resources for decision-making. Your primary mission involves delivering clean, harmonized, and reliable data to stakeholders across the business.

This role demands not only technical proficiency with code and databases but also the ability to transform raw data into meaningful insights propelling strategic innovation. You will build the foundational data infrastructure, ensuring data quality and availability through rigorous methodologies combining domain expertise, consulting skills, and software engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into data solutions, uncovering and resolving data quality challenges.
• Architect and implement data pipelines to extract, cleanse, normalize, and transform raw datasets into refined, actionable information.
• Design, develop, and deploy data structures such as tables, views, and marts across data warehouses, operational data stores, data lakes, and virtualization platforms.
• Construct scalable and reliable batch and real-time data pipelines utilizing data processing frameworks, including web scraping as needed.
• Integrate disparate data sources securely and compliantly, consolidating data silos.
• Collaborate with project managers, data architects, analysts, and developers to create scalable, data-centric products.
• Develop backend APIs and database solutions to support application frameworks.
• Operate within an Agile development environment, adhering to Continuous Integration and Delivery practices.
• Engage in pair programming and code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards.

Required Skills and Experience

• Expertise in data cleaning and transformation tools such as SQL, pandas, and R to ensure data integrity.
• Proficiency in building ETL pipelines with technologies like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), AWS Database Migration Services (DMS), Python, AWS Lambda, ECS containers, Eventbridge, AWS Glue, and Spring framework.
• Strong database design capabilities and experience with diverse databases including SQL variants, PostgreSQL, AWS S3, Athena, MongoDB, Postgres GIS, MySQL, SQLite, VoltDB, and Cassandra.
• Experience working with Databricks and Microsoft Data Fabric platforms.
• Familiarity with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Solid understanding of data engineering principles applied in Big Data environments using cloud technologies.
• Experience building production-grade data pipelines, ETL/ELT integration workflows.
• Knowledge of system architecture, data structures, and algorithms relevant to scalable solutions.
• Understanding of data modeling, access strategies, and storage frameworks including Data Mart, Data Lake, Data Virtualization, and Data Warehouse.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and standard web communication protocols.
• Experience with Big Data tooling like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and messaging systems such as RabbitMQ.
• Web scraping capabilities employing tools like BeautifulSoup, CasperJS, PhantomJS, Selenium, Node.js.
• Knowledge of data governance best practices, access control, and security standards.
• Comfort using scripting languages, particularly SQL and Python.
• Competency in both Windows and Linux-based development environments.
• Interest in bridging the gap between engineering and data analytics teams.
