Job description
Role Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver, you will be the visible representative of Tesco, delivering groceries directly to customers' homes. This position involves more than just driving—it's about assisting customers and ensuring excellent service with a friendly approach. The work is active and physically engaging, offering a diverse range of daily tasks. While you will operate largely independently, a supportive team of managers and colleagues will be available at base for assistance.
Key Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and work area to ensure all customer orders are delivered in pristine condition.
- Carry out safe loading of the delivery van and perform thorough vehicle checks to guarantee its safety and readiness for service.
- Communicate clearly and courteously with customers about any order modifications, substitutions, or approaching expiry items, facilitating refunds when necessary to ensure a smooth experience.
- Handle all products carefully, treating each delivery as if it were your own to uphold quality and customer confidence.
- Complete deliveries punctually within the customer's assigned time slot, offering warm and genuine service that ensures customers feel appreciated and well cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Establish strong working relationships with teammates to foster a positive team environment focused on excellent customer service.
- Be approachable and friendly when interacting with both customers and colleagues.
- Adapt swiftly to fluctuating customer demands and embrace changes encountered during deliveries and at the store.
- Possess a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (either full manual or automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points on your record.
Work Schedule
Available shifts include Sundays from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The position guarantees a minimum of 16 hours weekly, with some roles available from 12 hours per week.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay rate of £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour for stores within the M25 and potential additional location-based payments.
- Holiday entitlement begins at 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months in addition to bank holidays.
