Job description

Overview

As the frontline representative of Tesco's delivery service, the Customer Delivery Driver plays a key role in meeting customers at their homes, ensuring excellent service accompanied with friendliness and professionalism. This position requires physical activity, hands-on tasks, and a dynamic work schedule that varies day to day. Drivers operate independently on the road but have ongoing support from management and colleagues based at the store.

Work Schedule

  • Sunday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Thursday: 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • Friday: 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery van, including trays and work areas, ensuring all customer orders are delivered in pristine condition.
  • Safely load the van and conduct necessary checks to confirm vehicle readiness and roadworthiness.
  • Communicate with customers regarding any modifications in their orders such as substitutions or short-dated items, offering refunds when appropriate to ensure a positive experience.
  • Handle all products with care, treating every order as personally important to sustain customer trust and quality standards.
  • Deliver orders punctually within specified time slots, providing warm and genuine service at customers' doorsteps to foster customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to build great relationships with teammates to strengthen team spirit and optimize service delivery.
  • Be friendly and welcoming to both customers and fellow staff members.
  • Quick adaptability to shifting customer needs and readiness to embrace changes encountered on the road or in-store environment.
  • Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence (full or automatic) held for a minimum of 12 months, with not more than 3 penalty points on record.
