Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time Culinary Tutor based at our Hamilton Campus. In this pivotal role, you will guide and foster the upcoming generation of culinary professionals by delivering the Level 4 Cookery program. Your culinary expertise and industry insight will cultivate an engaging and supportive learning space for students to enhance their technical skills, confidence, and professional traits.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruct students on preparing and presenting intricate dishes utilizing diverse cooking methods.
- Teach standards of food safety, hygiene, and exemplary practices customary in commercial kitchens.
- Demonstrate the safe handling of knives and foundational kitchen skills.
- Foster adeptness with various ingredients, including meats and fresh seafood.
- Encourage development in communication, teamwork, and professionalism within kitchen environments.
- Impart current culinary practices and industry expectations.
- Support students' confidence-building and preparation for internships and future employment.
- Collaborate with industry partners to offer practical exposure and career-building opportunities.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will bring solid, recent experience (minimum 5 years) in the culinary or cookery sectors alongside relevant tertiary education at Level 5 or higher. You should possess comprehensive cooking skills and broad knowledge of the food, beverage, and hospitality industries.
While formal teaching experience is not mandatory, you must be an energetic and effective communicator capable of connecting with a diverse student body to foster a nurturing and motivating environment. Your passion for sharing expertise and dedication to student success is essential.
