Company Overview
Our client is a well-established construction firm in Ireland, recognized for delivering high-quality projects across commercial, residential, industrial, and public sectors. Due to ongoing growth and an expanding project portfolio, they seek an experienced Construction Estimator to join their team based in Dublin.
Role Overview
The Estimator will play a crucial role in preparing competitive bids and supporting pre-construction and commercial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile comprehensive estimates and tender documents.
- Examine architectural drawings, technical specifications, and tender materials.
- Perform quantity take-offs and measurement calculations.
- Prepare and send enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate and compare received quotations.
- Identify potential commercial risks, exclusions, and business opportunities.
- Develop detailed pricing and cost component breakdowns.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams effectively.
- Contribute to project budget planning and assist in the smooth transition from tender to project execution.
- Manage multiple tender submissions and strict deadlines concurrently.
Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction estimating.
- Prior experience working with main contractors is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and cost structures.
- Proficient in reading construction drawings and specification documents.
- Experienced in quantity take-offs and coordinating subcontractor procurement.
- Excellent commercial awareness, numerical proficiency, and analytical abilities.
- Highly organized with a keen eye for detail.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with estimating and construction-related software tools.
