A local construction organization is expanding its team with an experienced Construction Estimator. The company handles diverse projects across multiple sectors such as hospitals, higher education, schools, commercial and retail spaces, federal and state government projects, medical facilities, and civil construction.
Role Overview
The Construction Estimator will be responsible for delivering precise and detailed cost and labor estimates to support project planning and execution. This role plays a vital part in the company's operational success and offers room for professional growth within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze architectural plans, specifications, proposals, and other related documents to generate time, cost, and labor projections for various projects.
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, departmental teams, and site foremen to establish accurate estimates and resolve any concerns.
- Conduct specialized studies to develop standard labor hours and cost data or to identify opportunities for reducing expenses.
- Prepare comprehensive estimates that assist management in planning, organizing, and scheduling construction activities.
- Regularly generate cost and expenditure reports along with essential documentation throughout the project's timeline.
- Review material and labor needs to decide the most economical approach between producing or purchasing components.
- Perform thorough risk analysis for construction projects and suggest effective mitigation plans.
- Stay informed about emerging construction technologies and incorporate them into cost estimation methods.
- Work closely with project managers and team members to ensure that all estimates are accurate and completed on schedule.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a Construction Estimator.
- Demonstrated expertise across multiple construction sectors including hospitals, education, commercial, government, retail, medical, and civil projects.
- In-depth understanding of construction cost estimation principles and methodologies.
- Strong familiarity with construction materials, techniques, and machinery.
- Exceptional analytical abilities coupled with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in calculations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using specialized cost estimation software.
- Educational background in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar disciplines is preferred.
- Capability to perform well under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
- Commitment to ethical business practices and adherence to industry regulations.
