Commercial Financial Analyst

About the Role

Our client, a leading retail organization in Australia experiencing rapid expansion, is growing their finance function to align with their increasing store count and expanding customer base. We are seeking a commercially focused Finance Analyst to join an accomplished finance team. This position involves close collaboration with senior business stakeholders to enhance profitability, guide strategic decisions, and facilitate ongoing growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting cycles.
• Perform detailed variance analyses comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts.
• Evaluate margin and profitability performance, identifying opportunities to enhance commercial results.
• Develop business cases and conduct investment appraisals to support strategic projects.
• Deliver timely and insightful management reports and dashboards to senior management, translating complex financial data into comprehensible commercial insights.
• Engage in business partnering with both internal and external stakeholders to drive financial objectives.
• Support ad hoc financial modeling, scenario planning, and commercial evaluations as necessary.

Candidate Profile

• CA/CPA qualification completed or in progress.
• Minimum of three years experience in commercial finance, financial planning and analysis, or business partnering, ideally in retail or a multi-site operating environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Power BI or comparable business intelligence tools is advantageous.
• Experience preparing business cases, performing financial models, and conducting investment appraisals.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and foster relationships at senior levels.
• A proactive and commercially inquisitive approach combined with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment managing competing priorities.
