About the Role
Join MBIE's Commercial team based in Central Wellington, working as a key coordinator within the internal procurement function. In this permanent full-time position, you will serve as the primary contact for procurement requests, managing enquiries and providing sound advice aligned with MBIE's procurement policy and Government Procurement Rules.
Reporting to the Commercial Practice Manager, your role encompasses coordinating tasks for delivery teams, tracking progress, maintaining comprehensive records, and reporting on outcomes. You will exercise judgement to identify risks, escalate when specialist advice is needed, and support a customer-focused, consistent, and efficient commercial service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and triage procurement requests, offering advice on procedures, policies, and procurement pathways.
- Support procurement-related systems, maintain records, ensure data accuracy, compliance oversight, and governance reporting.
- Enhance commercial services by updating templates, guidance documents, self-service materials, and business workflows.
- Build procurement knowledge across MBIE via training sessions, workshops, communications, and stakeholder assistance.
- Participate in continuous improvement and commercial initiatives, handle information requests, assess risks, and nurture strong relationships.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Background in commercial projects, procurement, business administration, or equivalent.
- Excellent administrative and coordination capabilities with a talent for juggling multiple priorities.
- Experience managing information systems and streamlining business processes focusing on data integrity and reliable documentation.
- Ability to collate diverse information and produce clear, precise reports.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and ability to meet tight deadlines with accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for concise information sharing.
- Strong relationship-building skills paired with a practical and customer-oriented approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or comparable experience in procurement, business administration, or related commercial fields is beneficial.
- Must successfully complete credit and police background checks.
- Legal eligibility to live and work in New Zealand is required.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $68,380 to $77,359 annually, along with KiwiSaver contributions and wellness benefits.
