Civil Engineer – 11-Month Temporary Contract

About the Role

Milaha is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to assist with shipyard infrastructure upgrades, facility enhancements, marine civil works, and capital expenditure initiatives. The incumbent will oversee project implementation through contractor management, technical evaluations, site supervision, progress tracking, and ensuring civil works meet specified quality, safety, budgetary, and timeline standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor shipyard infrastructure and facility upgrade projects adhering to defined scope, schedules, and budgets.
• Analyze civil engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical submissions, method statements, and contractor proposals.
• Carry out regular site inspections to oversee construction activities, evaluate contractor performance, and monitor resource use.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve technical and project-related challenges.
• Provide civil engineering expertise for floating dock facilities, workshops, roadways, drainage, utilities, hardstands, marine infrastructure, and operational facilities.
• Coordinate civil works involving floating dry docks, ship lifts, and berth infrastructure.
• Support budget control efforts, including tracking project costs, validating contractor claims, and identifying risks to deadlines or costs.
• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, quality standards, health, safety, security, environment, and quality (HSSEQ) regulations.
• Participate in tender evaluations, technical reviews, contractor assessments, scope formulation, and offer technical clarifications.
• Supervise site surveys, testing, and geotechnical investigations.
• Monitor civil works such as concrete and asphalt applications, pathways, operational zones, drainage, water supply, utilities, and fire protection systems.
• Maintain thorough project documentation including progress reports, meeting minutes, action logs, inspection records, risk registers, and project close-out materials.
• Identify potential project risks, technical hurdles, and execution constraints; support mitigation strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Between 3 to 5 years of experience in civil engineering, construction supervision, or infrastructure project delivery.
• Relevant practical experience with concrete and steel structures, industrial buildings, workshops, warehouses, office constructions, and interior fit-outs is highly valued.
• Proven capability in contractor coordination and site supervision.
• Competent in reviewing engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
• Experience working in Qatar is preferred.
• Professional certification from MMUP/UPDA is an advantage.
• PMP certification is beneficial.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of MS Project is a plus.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to produce detailed technical reports and progress updates.
