Position Overview
We are seeking a Chef Manager to lead the culinary team at Summerset Monterey Park. This key leadership role involves overseeing all kitchen operations, including preparing meals for residents, managing café offerings, and catering special events. You will ensure outstanding food quality, adherence to compliance standards, and strong commercial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals catering especially for residents, including those unable to visit the café.
- Design appealing menus and create enticing cabinet food to stimulate interest and enjoyment.
- Organize and cater for special functions, celebrations, and fine dining occasions.
- Lead and mentor the kitchen team through effective coaching, scheduling, and daily support.
- Manage inventory, place orders, and oversee food storage and kitchen equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure strict compliance with the Food Control Plan and all relevant food safety regulations.
- Monitor operational costs, minimize waste, and support budgetary goals.
Work Schedule
This full-time position operates Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with some flexibility and occasional weekend or evening work for events.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a recognized professional cookery qualification.
- Demonstrate proven leadership experience in high-volume kitchen environments or similar settings.
- Have experience managing set meal services, café offerings, and event/function catering.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices, compliance standards, and the Food Act.
- Confidence in managing stock control, ordering procedures, and kitchen administrative tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with a genuine passion for team mentoring and leadership.
