Role Overview

The Challenge Course Instructor is responsible for leading a diverse array of challenge activities including high and low ropes courses, climbing walls, and team-building exercises. The role integrates physical challenges with mindfulness practices to support personal growth, teamwork, and mental resilience. This position emphasizes guest safety and engagement while fostering a dynamic and supportive atmosphere for individual and group experiences. The instructor also collaborates on the creation of innovative challenge programs, working closely with the fitness and recreation team to deliver well-rounded wellness experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead activities such as ropes courses, climbing walls, obstacle courses, and adventure-based team-building sessions.
  • Incorporate mindful movement and strategies that enhance problem-solving, teamwork, and mental resilience among participants.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment tailored to varying fitness abilities, offering empowering experiences.
  • Provide clear instructions on safety, equipment usage, and techniques to guarantee high-quality guest experiences.
  • Develop creative exercises promoting collaboration, communication, and trust.
  • Integrate mindfulness during activities to foster emotional and mental wellness.
  • Collaborate with management to design and implement diverse and innovative challenge course programs suitable for varying guest demographics.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, incorporating latest team-building and wellness approaches into program designs.
  • Create themed challenge sessions including sunrise challenges, mindfulness problem-solving, and wellness retreats.
  • Monitor guest progress, provide feedback, and adjust programs to meet individual and group needs.
  • Conduct safety briefings, supervise equipment setup and maintenance, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and compliance with Saudi regulations.
  • Maintain organized, safe, and well-functioning course areas.
  • Build strong guest relationships by delivering personalized and approachable services.
  • Collaborate with fitness and wellness teams for seamless integration of challenge programs within the broader resort offerings.
  • Mentor junior instructors by sharing best practices in facilitation and safety.
  • Assist marketing efforts by representing challenge programs through various channels and at external events to enhance visibility.
  • Collect and analyze guest feedback to continually refine and improve program quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience in leading ropes courses, climbing walls, obstacle courses, or similar challenge activities.
  • Certifications such as high/low ropes course facilitation, Certified Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, NSCA or equivalent), or outdoor adventure training preferred.
  • Knowledge of team-building methods and personal development through challenge-based practices.
  • Proficient in climbing techniques and comfortable with high-altitude activities.
  • At least 1-2 years facilitating outdoor adventure or challenge courses within luxury resort or wellness environments.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, and group dynamics management.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic knowledge is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication abilities to inspire and engage guests with mindful and transformative experiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to integrate mindfulness into all programs.
  • Adaptable and flexible to modify activities based on guest needs and environmental factors.
  • Physical endurance suitable for climbing, hiking, and other physically demanding activities promoting holistic well-being.
  • Competent in digital platforms for scheduling, guest tracking, and communication.

The role requires physical capabilities consistent with leading climbing, hiking, and adventure activities.

Work Environment

Mostly outdoor activities complemented by indoor preparation and administrative duties.
