Job description
Job Overview
The Cashier plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service by efficiently handling customer checkout and return transactions with speed, friendliness, accuracy, and safety. They also oversee the Self-Checkout zone to ensure smooth operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Process checkout and return transactions promptly and accurately.
- Maintain and supervise the Self-Checkout area to facilitate customer use and prevent issues.
- Actively enhance product and project knowledge to assist customers effectively and identify additional sales opportunities.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures aimed at reducing shrinkage.
- For Head Cashiers: assign positions to other Cashiers, accelerate price checks, authorize point of sale transactions and markdowns across various service areas including mainline registers, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, Tool Rental, and Self-Checkout.
- Provide initial escalation support for customer concerns.
- Support the supervision, coaching, and training of Front End Associates by assisting in onboarding new Cashiers and using all available coaching resources to develop staff skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically, a Head Cashier should have at least one year of experience working as a Cashier.
