Job Overview

As a Carpenter at W Hotels in Dubai, you will be responsible for responding promptly to guest repair requests, communicating effectively with customers to resolve maintenance issues, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on hotel tools and equipment. This role requires familiarity or willingness to learn about various systems such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and general building upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Attend to guest maintenance requests and ensure efficient resolution of issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance including cleaning and lubrication of tools and equipment in kitchen and mechanical rooms.
• Visually inspect tools and machinery and carry necessary equipment while moving around.
• Locate and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utilities within the building.
• Manage and maintain maintenance inventory and order parts and supplies as required.
• Communicate daily activities and any problems encountered to next shifts employing approved communication protocols.
• Execute repairs including surface preparation, painting, drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and air conditioning filter replacement, and thorough area cleanup.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunging toilets and unclogging drains), electrical fixtures, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and guestroom items.
• Program televisions and perform related housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before maintenance to ensure safety.
• Conduct repairs on interior and exterior landscaping, including sprinkler systems.
• Utilize basic computer skills to manage air handler schedules and adjust temperatures.
• Adhere to all company safety and security policies, report hazards and incidents promptly, and complete necessary safety training and certifications.
• Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality, and protect company assets.
• Deliver exceptional guest service aligned with company standards by welcoming guests, addressing service needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and showing genuine appreciation.
• Foster positive working relationships with team members, support common goals, and communicate clearly and professionally.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds unaided, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching overhead and below knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Retrieve work-related information via computer as needed.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Some prior experience in general maintenance, painting, and surface preparation both interior and exterior is preferred.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
• No supervisory experience is necessary for this role.
