Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking skilled Cable Jointers to become integral members of our team, supporting the Southern Electric Power Distribution network across multiple locations including New Forest, Yeovil, Poole, and Oxford among others. This is a permanent, full-time, onsite position offering solid career progression within a stable industry.

Key Duties

  • Perform jointing, cabling, and excavation operations on both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) networks, responding to planned projects and urgent calls.
  • Prioritize safety for yourself and colleagues, embodying and promoting a robust safety culture.
  • Engage actively in emergency response services, often requiring quick mobilization and out-of-hours standby availability, particularly during severe weather or storm events.
  • Work outdoors across varying weather conditions, maintaining professional and high-quality customer service representation of the company.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Cable Jointer with relevant DNO electrical certifications in LV, HV, 11kV or 33kV from an accredited training institution.
  • Background in the construction, repair, and operation of electrical systems up to 11kV on distribution networks.
  • Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems and safety standards.
  • Capability and willingness to fulfill standby duties outside standard hours as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, safety consciousness, adaptability to changing tasks and priorities, and a flexible work approach.
  • Experience or willingness to learn excavation of joint holes using hand tools and mini excavators (training available).
  • Possession of a full UK driving license is mandatory.

  • Competitive base salary ranging between £36,139 and £43,188, with additional overtime and standby pay, targeting an on-target earning potential around £50,000.
