About the Role

We are looking for a Cable Layer to join our team at Poole, Dorset. This full-time, permanent position involves executing excavation tasks and laying electrical cabling as part of maintaining the distribution network.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform excavation work in highways and private sites alongside a team, ensuring adherence to safe working standards and maintaining effective team communication.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions while meeting strict deadlines, complying with regulations, and providing excellent customer service during reactive maintenance.
  • Collaborate closely with the manager and support various additional projects as needed.
  • Carry out physically demanding excavation duties on highways and private lands.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in utilities, groundworks, and excavation fields.
  • Possession of an NRSWA card and a Mini Digger operating ticket is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with public highway work aligned with the appropriate code of practice.
  • Flexibility to undertake out-of-hours standby shifts and respond promptly to urgent work demands especially during severe weather.
