Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Cable Jointers to strengthen our team across multiple locations including New Forest, Yeovil, Poole, Salisbury, West London, Slough, Reading, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, Basingstoke, Aldershot, Petersfield, Swindon, Melksham, and Oxford. This permanent, full-time onsite role offers a starting salary between £36,139 and £43,188 with opportunities for overtime and standby payments, totaling approximately £50,000 OTE. You will be provided with all necessary tools, personal protective equipment, and a company vehicle.

Role Responsibilities

As a Cable Jointer, you will play a critical role maintaining our High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) network. Your duties involve jointing, cabling, and excavation work both on scheduled jobs and rapid response to emergencies. Safety is paramount; you will uphold a strong safety culture ensuring your well-being and that of your colleagues. The role demands flexibility to work outdoors in all weather and participate in out-of-hours standby duties, including quick deployment during storm events. Providing exceptional customer service and representing the company positively is essential.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must hold a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) recognized electrical qualification and have practical experience in cable jointing. Must possess broad knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems and demonstrate a proven history operating and repairing electrical plant up to 11kV voltage levels. Flexibility to attend unscheduled work and stand-by duty is required. Strong communication skills, safety commitment, and adaptability are key attributes. Experience with excavation of joint holes using hand tools and mini excavators is desirable; training is available if needed. A full UK driving license is mandatory.
