Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Specialist to spearhead the launch of an innovative subscription platform aimed at supporting New Zealand's small-to-medium enterprise (SME) sector. This role centers around creating new business opportunities rather than managing existing accounts, focusing on driving engagement and market expansion for a unique benefit and engagement solution designed to help SMEs attract, retain, and reward their employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and proactively engage with SME leaders throughout New Zealand to generate fresh partnerships and turn prospects into active clients.
- Oversee the entire sales cycle, including discovery discussions, product demonstrations, proposal presentations, and closing agreements.
- Build relationships with primary decision-makers such as business owners, founders, operations managers, and HR professionals.
- Gather market insights and client feedback to enhance sales strategies, refine messaging, and improve customer onboarding experiences.
- Maintain and update sales pipeline data, manage follow-ups, produce accurate forecasts, and establish clear conversion objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience with outbound B2B sales, especially in business development and lead generation, preferably selling subscription-based services, memberships, or workplace solutions.
- Strong understanding of the New Zealand SME market and the capability to effectively communicate with busy business owners.
- Consultative selling skills, including active listening, effective handling of objections, and the ability to close deals collaboratively.
- Highly motivated and self-directed, with disciplined CRM usage and a focus on achieving targets consistently.
Benefits and Work Environment
- Work in a mission-driven, supportive, and collaborative non-profit environment that values its people and purpose.
- Flexible work locations available in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch to accommodate candidates in these cities.
- Opportunity to lead a new product line, with substantial input into its strategic development and commercial success.
Additional Information
Applicants should have completed college or pre-university education. Equal employment opportunities and diversity are actively promoted within the hiring process. Candidates eager to contribute to launching a new product in the B2B space are encouraged to apply with their resume and a brief on their outbound sales achievements.
