Job Overview
The Brewing Operator plays a critical role in ensuring safety adherence and efficient execution of brewing operations according to defined standards and performance targets. The operator is responsible for maintaining product quality and optimizing production parameters, contributing to a safe and productive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to safety, environmental, and food safety standards including 5S, housekeeping, and HACCP protocols within the workplace.
- Participate actively in safety enhancement initiatives like TPM, Bowties, and ORR teams, applying corrective actions as needed.
- Follow Life Saving Rules (LSR) principles and communicate safety updates related to unsafe conditions to peers and supervisors.
- Identify and respond to unsafe activities or conditions immediately, provide feedback, and report appropriately.
- Safely manage equipment shut down and start-up processes for scheduled maintenance.
- Comply with HEINEKEN and local safety policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
- Spot inefficiencies, such as water and energy wastage in the work area and recommend improvements.
- Implement best environmental practices as part of daily operations.
- Conduct comprehensive quality checks according to Heineken Brewing Process Standards (BPS) across all sections of production.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials, auxiliary supplies, and cleaning/disinfection products at points of use.
- Monitor product and process quality, identify issues, and participate in quality improvement initiatives including problem-solving and root cause analyses.
- Clean and disinfect equipment and areas to recipe standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and cleaning-in-place (CILT) requirements.
- Handle tagging processes, apply problem-solving methods, and contribute to continuous improvement teams.
- Utilize digital tools for shift handovers, downtime reporting, and performance tracking via Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Maintain basic operating conditions with shop floor excellence tools such as Swipe Guide, Parsable, and 5S methodologies.
- Engage in Autonomous Production Maintenance (APM) team activities and TPM improvement projects targeting safety, quality, environmental standards, and performance loss reduction.
- Execute brewing operations on simple machinery following all approved standards and document activities properly.
- Adjust equipment operation based on production demands and seasonal fluctuations.
- Perform all routine brewing activities including sampling, cleaning, start-up, shutdown according to SOPs and machinery guidelines.
- Report deviations and contribute to continuous improvement efforts alongside the Brewing Team Leader.
- Operate brewing machines safely and efficiently to ensure on-time and in-full delivery.
- Prioritize and manage equipment tagging, addressing anomalies to avoid production disruptions.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Have 0-1 years of experience in production within a beverage or food manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG.
