Role Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing brewing and utilities equipment at Waitematā Brewery. This role operates within a rotating shift schedule and demands hands-on technical work to sustain safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

Key Duties

• Perform planned and preventative maintenance on brewing and utility machinery.
• Diagnose and fix mechanical issues promptly to reduce downtime.
• Assist in the upkeep and inspection of site utility assets.
• Inspect, service, and overhaul hygienic process valves, actuators, seals, and related brewery equipment.
• Collaborate closely with operators and maintenance teams to ensure smooth plant functionality.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and adopt maintenance best practices.
• Ensure all tasks comply with safety, quality, food safety, and environmental standards.
• Participate in rotating AM and PM shift schedules.
• After training, join the weekly on-call rotation for brewery and utilities support.
• Provide assistance during critical maintenance periods and brewery shutdown activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Mechanical Trade Certification or New Zealand Certificate in Engineering (Mechanical); a Fitter & Turner qualification is preferred.
• Minimum of five years' maintenance experience in food, beverage, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution abilities.
• A proactive approach emphasizing safety.
• Effective team player comfortable with fast-paced environments.
• Willingness and flexibility to work rotating shifts as required.
