Role Purpose
The principal objective of this position is to oversee and coordinate brewing quality control activities, ensuring QA analyses comply with AB InBev's standards and specifications, and to transform gathered data into recognized laboratory procedures and benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to developing brewery quality systems by offering expert advice and constructive input.
- Implement new or updated quality systems, ensuring laboratory personnel possess the necessary skills.
- Maintain the integrity and proper functioning of quality systems and promptly address any issues.
- Integrate quality objectives into individual and team laboratory goals.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with quality systems across lab and production teams.
- Manage budgetary aspects related to maintaining brewing and utilities equipment.
- Coordinate with Central Office on quality matters and participate in regional and divisional multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).
- Verify that team members accurately perform quality checks and analyses, properly logging results in the required systems.
- Ensure quality systems function correctly, safeguarding data integrity and accuracy.
- Supervise optimal operation of laboratory equipment, identifying problems or areas for improvement.
- Implement changes to analytical standards from the Centre of Excellence (COT), facilitating additional training as necessary.
- Adapt COT standards to regional specificities when applicable.
- Engage with COT via MDTs to represent regional needs and complexities effectively.
- Lead the laboratory team to foster ownership, empowerment, and collaboration.
- Ensure adherence to operational, quality, process standards, work instructions, calibration schedules, and performance targets.
- Provide mentorship, support, and coaching to team members for accurate task execution.
- Identify training requirements through needs analysis and performance reviews, initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Drive performance management processes, establish team goals, and conduct regular assessments.
- Oversee laboratory budget controls.
- Ensure engineering teams follow appropriate safety and housekeeping protocols and comply with legal standards.
- Enforce implementation of SAB and legislative policies on safety and housekeeping, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections, addressing any unsafe practices promptly.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Microbiology or a related field.
- At least 3 to 6 months of relevant on-the-job training.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in laboratory, brewing, or packaging operations.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques.
- Experience in management functions, including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
- Numeracy skills encompassing budgeting and statistical analysis.
