Senior Data Analyst - Operations & Logistics

Role Overview

As a Senior Data Analyst specializing in Operations and Logistics, you will partner closely with operations managers, fleet and dispatch teams, data scientists, engineers, and business leaders. Your main responsibility is to transform delivery and logistics data into strategic insights that enhance the efficiency and reliability of order fulfillment from merchants to customers. You will manage key operational performance indicators such as delivery times, on-time rates, courier utilization, dispatch efficiency, and cost per delivery, using these metrics to identify inefficiencies, forecast demand, balance courier resources, and suggest improvements to streamline last-mile delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams—operations, fleet, dispatch, product, and engineering—to develop data-backed solutions enhancing delivery performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Establish, track, and communicate vital KPIs including delivery speeds, on-time delivery percentage, courier workforce utilization, idle durations, and delivery costs.
• Extract and analyze complex operational datasets using statistical methods, offering stakeholders straightforward and actionable insights.
• Diagnose bottlenecks throughout the order process—acceptance, preparation, pickup, transit, and drop-off—and propose targeted optimizations.
• Create demand forecasts and assist in capacity planning to align courier availability with fluctuating order volumes across various regions and timeframes, including peak times.
• Analyze performance at geographic and zone levels to guide courier distribution and last-mile strategy decisions.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and visual tools that provide both real-time and historical insights for operational teams.
• Keep current with emerging industry standards and innovations in logistics analytics and delivery optimization to maintain competitive advantage.
• Identify improvement opportunities, support design of complex operational features, and mentor junior analysts fostering a collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, industrial engineering, operations research, supply chain management, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in analytics within operations, logistics, or supply chain contexts, ideally in dynamic delivery, e-commerce, or marketplace settings.
• Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and/or R, with experience in data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
• Competence working with geospatial and time-series datasets involving zones, routing paths, ETAs, and hourly demand distribution.
• Strong analytical aptitude capable of deriving meaningful insights from large and complex operational data.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey data insights and actionable recommendations to non-technical operational teams such as dispatch and fleet personnel.
• High attention to detail ensuring data precision and correctness.
• Proven ability to operate autonomously, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in fast-paced, time-sensitive operational environments.
• Collaborative mindset with experience thriving in cross-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Additional Experience

• Background in food, grocery, or parcel delivery sectors.
• Knowledge of dispatching algorithms, routing, batching procedures, and key last-mile efficiency drivers.
• Understanding of causal analytics methodologies to measure genuine impacts beyond correlations.
• Experience modeling transaction-level delivery economics including costs, courier payouts, subsidies, and margins across various dimensions.
• Familiarity with demand forecasting, fleet capacity planning, and balancing of supply and demand for couriers.
• Exposure to optimization and operations research concepts such as routing, queuing, and assignment problems alongside data engineering fundamentals.
• Some familiarity with machine learning applications supporting predictive tasks like ETA estimation and demand forecasting.
