Job description
Overview of Role
This position involves comprehensive management of brewery operations including planning, budgeting, production, quality control, and compliance aspects. The role requires coordination with corporate, sales, and internal teams to ensure efficient production and delivery of high-quality products.
Operations Planning and Budgeting
- Lead monthly and weekly production scheduling based on corporate forecasts, aligning output with volume, quality, and cost targets.
- Collaborate with sales teams to gauge market demand and project sales growth for effective production and dispatch planning.
- Develop the overall brewery budget from consolidated information and work closely with the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) to secure corporate approval.
- Ensure availability of all necessary resources such as raw materials, packaging, utilities, logistics, and labor while optimizing resource use to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
Operations and Dispatch Management
- Oversee procurement and quality control of raw materials including malt, adjuncts, and yeasts, ensuring optimal inventory management and resource reuse where applicable.
- Manage brewing and production processes to guarantee timely dispatch of products adhering to internal and statutory quality standards.
- Coordinate with local sales leadership for tentative weekly and daily dispatch planning; monitor dispatch execution and address inefficiencies.
- Identify operational losses including inefficiencies or shortages in materials and manpower, working with teams to strategize corrective actions.
- Drive resolution of operational challenges related to manpower, material availability, capacity, and customer compliance in cooperation with internal and external teams.
Product Trials and Operational Review
- Conduct product trials as directed by Head Office and Central Technical Cell teams, analyze performance data, and share actionable insights.
- Monitor daily operations by tracking key performance indicators such as production volumes, bottling efficiency, consumable usage, inventory levels, expenses, and safety records.
- Lead daily coordination meetings to review achievement against targets, interpret variances, and recommend corrective measures.
- Participate in Daily Control Systems (DCS), addressing flagged issues, designing, and implementing corrective actions for production and maintenance.
- Prepare and present KPI and Key Activity Indicator (KAI) reports on production and maintenance activities to both head office and brewery leadership.
Quality Assurance and Sensory Evaluation
- Perform routine quality testing and sensory evaluations for water, brews, filtration, carbonation, lagers, and lauter tanks, ensuring adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Analyze sensory evaluation outcomes to detect anomalies, conduct root cause analyses, and formulate corrective plans.
- Work closely with microbiologists to monitor product health indices and with QA teams to identify and address deviations in quality parameters.
- Perform random inspections of raw material samples and approve their usage.
Audit and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all statutory regulations including labeling, packaging, factory maintenance, and inventory management.
- Facilitate internal and external quality and process audits in collaboration with technical and leadership teams, addressing audit findings promptly.
- Support financial and vendor audits by providing accurate data and necessary assistance during audit processes.
