About the Role

The Site Fleet Controller at The HEINEKEN Company, situated in Kilinto, Addis Ababa, is responsible for overseeing the management of all heavy-duty and medium vehicles. This includes fuel management, tire oversight, maintenance administration, and ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all fleet activities adhere to laws, including inspections and permits.
  • Manage daily fleet operations, enforcing safety and company policies.
  • Supervise, train drivers and promote safety and efficiency cultures.
  • Coordinate mandatory driver training sessions.
  • Monitor and report driving infractions such as speeding, harsh maneuvers, and unauthorized night driving.
  • Track vehicles and validate driver licenses with security personnel.
  • Implement and oversee vehicle maintenance schedules in cooperation with fleet planners.
  • Conduct proper vehicle handovers between drivers along with equipment checks.
  • Work with the Fleet Manager on equipment and vehicle maintenance.
  • Inspect tires weekly to ensure condition, valid tagging, and serial numbers.
  • Monitor tire retreading processes, collect related data, and provide weekly reports.
  • Supervise vehicles undergoing maintenance, ensuring timely servicing and collection.
  • Manage GPS tracking and telematics systems.
  • Support daily transport order planning and monitor driver journey plans before departures.
  • Respond to driver breakdowns en route, coordinating corrective actions with Fleet Manager.
  • Conduct weekly truck inspections, reporting on vehicle conditions and deviations.
  • Handle fleet invoice collection from service providers after repairs.
  • Ensure trucks start journeys with full fuel tanks matching tanker capacity, issuing trip-specific fuel allocations.
  • Reconcile fuel consumption per trip and report discrepancies for salary adjustments.
  • Track and report monthly fuel consumption per vehicle.
  • Analyze fleet performance data to identify improvement areas.
  • Participate and update records in DCS meetings and provide various compliance and inspection reports daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Contribute to transportation planning deployments and recommend safety and process enhancements.
  • Engage actively in team activities, support personal development, and promote a customer-centric culture with strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • Report to Warehouse & Transport Manager on compliance, inspection, and fuel usage.
  • Uphold health, safety, and environmental policies to maintain team well-being.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in fleet management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with Ethiopian transport and insurance laws.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of planning, order, transportation, and warehouse management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial and supply chain operations.
  • Competency in advanced logistics tools.
  • Ability to influence and build collaborative partnerships.
  • Basic financial knowledge.
  • Educational background in automotive engineering or related field, TVET level 3 or higher.

Special Conditions

  • Availability to respond to emergencies 24/7.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Ethiopia and abroad when required.
