Overview

Located in Doha, Qatar, within the Kempinski Hotels, this role involves delivering exceptional food and beverage service in designated venues. The bartender is expected to uphold the hotel's distinguished standards, promoting sales and elevating guest satisfaction through courteous, professional, and efficient service.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Assistant Bar Manager and oversee the work of Bar Staff including Barman/Barmaid and Hosts/Hostesses.
  • Adhere strictly to punctuality and uniform requirements, ensuring a polished, clean appearance along with a nametag, following Kempinski’s grooming guidelines.
  • Deliver courteous, professional service consistently while performing assigned duties within the outlet.
  • Maintain comprehensive product knowledge of all hotel food and beverage offerings to appropriately recommend and upsell items, including alternatives.
  • Monitor supplies and equipment to minimize waste and spoilage, keeping work and surrounding areas tidy and well organized.
  • Execute accurate opening and closing procedures for the outlet.
  • Handle guest inquiries and complaints with professionalism, escalating issues promptly to supervisors and ensuring proper follow-up.
  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems proficiently according to assigned training.
  • Comply rigorously with hotel policies on fire safety, hygiene, and health standards.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the department and across hotel teams.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings and trainings, and be adaptable to evolving department and hotel management needs.
  • Assist in inventory counts and manage product and equipment oversight efficiently.
  • Maintain a positive, motivated attitude and display strong self-control in all work scenarios.
  • Understand the department’s monthly profit and loss statements and act as a service leader and role model for the team.
  • Ensure top-tier, flawless service as per the department and hotel requirements and uphold the restaurant’s concept and service standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leading meetings when the Assistant Bar Manager is unavailable and participating in daily Food & Beverage meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of service procedures for all bars, lounges, and restaurants within the hotel.
  • Possess a deep understanding of food ingredients and preparations to recommend suitable beverages, cocktails, and spirits.
  • Have expertise in classic cocktail recipes, their history, as well as familiarity with modern cocktail trends, spirits, and liqueurs.
  • Capably manage stock control, cocktail costing, and provide expert recommendations to guests.
  • Prepare a wide range of classic cocktails and standard long drinks proficiently.
  • Commit to participating in at least two national bartending competitions annually.
  • Create new cocktail recipes responsive to guest preferences.
  • Strictly follow hotel and management beverage guidelines.
  • Show enthusiasm for exploring and understanding local bar culture and nightlife venues.
  • Run bar operations independently, including mise en place, cocktail production, cashiering, and shift closing duties.
  • Complete internal training programs covering upselling, complaint management, and product expertise.
  • Maintain current knowledge of bar industry culture and nightlife trends, continually updating skills on cocktails and trends.

The list of responsibilities may be expanded according to hotel business requirements.

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years experience in food and beverage service roles.
  • Possession of awards, certificates, or formal training related to bar operations is preferred.
