Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Backend Engineer to create and maintain the backend services that drive our product. This position emphasizes developing APIs, managing data systems, and making infrastructure choices that underpin product capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop backend services, APIs, and underlying data platforms.
- Design scalable data models and APIs aligned with product growth.
- Produce clean, well-tested software adhering to solid architectural principles.
- Identify and fix performance and reliability challenges.
- Review peer code and actively participate in architectural design decisions.
- Collaborate closely with frontend development, infrastructure, and product teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of three years' experience developing production backend systems.
- Expertise in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.
- Strong grasp of both relational and NoSQL database technologies.
- Practical experience designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Firm understanding of system design concepts.

- Curiosity to investigate system behavior and continuously deploy improvements.
- Excellent written communication skills for articulating technical decisions.
- Adoption of a test-and-learn approach to rapidly deliver, measure outcomes, and iterate.
- Capability to work asynchronously across different time zones.
