Your Role

As the Engineering Manager of the Algorithms team, you will lead the creation and development of the core technologies powering our pricing and forecasting engine which automatically prices rooms for thousands of hotels. This role demands leadership over delivery, team welfare, and alignment with product goals. You will maintain technical credibility by overseeing design and review processes and occasionally coding, while prioritizing a balance of delivery pace, technical health, and fostering a culture of trust and responsibility. Furthermore, you'll spearhead technical advancements across the broader Product and Engineering departments focusing on process and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on pricing algorithms, forecasting, and data pipelines, managing delivery quality and operational reliability.
• Develop your team members through consistent mentorship, performance feedback, and career growth initiatives.
• Recruit, onboard, and nurture engineering talent to strengthen the team composition.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management to challenge and shape product directions, ensuring effective prioritization and clear engineering strategies with measurable outcomes.
• Balance rapid delivery with technical sustainability, integrating debt management and scalability concerns into ongoing development.
• Provide technical guidance through architecture oversight, design, and code reviews, remaining approachable for hands-on involvement when needed.
• Protect the team from external pressures to maintain focus and healthy workplace dynamics.
• Enhance engineering processes and practices to improve clarity, alignment, and predictable output.
• Initiate and lead technical improvements at the organizational level beyond your immediate team.

Requirements

• Robust software engineering background with expertise in building and managing production backend and data-heavy systems.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience including substantial leadership roles managing engineering teams and conducting performance evaluations.
• Experience in managing managerial roles such as Associate Engineering Managers or Team Leads is advantageous.
• Strong product mindset with the ability to confidently challenge and collaborate with Product teams to define and validate solutions.
• Technical proficiency to remain hands-on when necessary, while primarily focusing on leadership responsibilities.
• Familiarity with Python/Django backend development; experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Dagster data tools is a strong benefit.
• Solid knowledge of system architecture, design principles, and engineering best practices.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills fostering transparency, trust, and servant-leadership.
• Proactive in driving technical enhancements across the wider Product and Engineering organization.
• Fluent English proficiency, with residence in a European time zone (UTC+0 to UTC+2) is required.
